March Update(s)

Hello everyone! This post is going to look a little different. I’m experimenting with something I mildly tried what feels like ages ago now and that something is having a format of sorts to the monthly updates posts so if there’s something specific you’re interested in (or want to show someone) it’s a little easier to find in a post. I’d love to get your thoughts and opinions on this and might even have a survey here in a few months. That’s actually not a bad idea… *makes note on calendar*

What you’ll see here:

  • Writing – Updates about what I’m working on, publication dates, book anniversaries (bookaversaries? book birthdays?), events I’ll be part of, cover reveals, etc. Basically anything writing related.
  • Personal – The note I have for this is legitimately “Mostly what heathens my cats are, health sh*t(?)” So yeah, this is where I’ll tell you what my cats are doing lately to drive me crazier.
  • Reading – What I’m currently reading or something I recommend to read.
  • Gaming/Listening/Spotlight – What I’m playing, favorite song/album/artist, spotlight for a friend or favorite creator and things like this. This section might not always exist, but I’m going to try and have something for it in every post. Seeing as this is only a monthly update I don’t think it’ll be too difficult. Cross your fingers with me folks.

Writing

Slowly, but surely, I’m working on getting more things written. Right now this is mostly poetry, but I do PLAN on going back to the Wolfhaven series I started long enough ago that I don’t want to look up when I wrote the first book because I will feel a lot of shame and I don’t want to put myself through that.

That being said I did finish a new draft of a poetry book and have TWO now that I can release at some point as well as a new one I’ve started drafting. The new one is currently just titled “2026” as a placeholder. No idea what the title will eventually be and that’s okay right now. It won’t end up being a 300 poem beast like “Reflections” was. I don’t have an official goal for it, but I’m aiming for 175-200 poems for the book.

I’m also debating releasing things in Kindle format first and going back and adding paperbacks later, but I’m going to discuss that with the husband and maybe a friend of mine.

Personal

My cats are doing cat things. For Opie that meant being his normal war criminal self. I started rolling over at some point probably around 4 A.M. and he meowed at me, thankfully, but then decided he was going to yell and scream and complain to my husband and me and walk absolutely all over us. I get it, Opie, mom nearly squished you. I’m sorry!

If you remember last month I mentioned a friend moving in with us. He has a dog. She is a dachshund (weiner dog). She is a fabulous dog, but has absolutely 0 concept of personal space. From what we can tell this is a normal dachshund thing. He works a very different schedule than my husband and I do and while our friend works weekends we don’t, so she has ended up in bed with us quite a bit. She actually chilled in our bed while husband and I put away laundry. So helpful!

Reading

  • Demon World Boba Shop – Arthur is reincarnated in a world full of demons. That’s all I’m giving you. Our lead box truck driver and I were on a run very early when I was learning the job and he started laughing. He’s a fairly stoic man so I asked him. I am slowly working my way through the book because I haven’t had tons of time to just sit and sink my teeth into it (or when I do get time to sit down and sink my teeth into something I have little to no attention span). Highly recommend, especially if you like things like Legends & Lattes.
  • Amazon Prime Reading does short story series and recently I read The Improbable Meet-cute: Second Chances and absolutely adored it! Two of the stories weren’t my favorites, but I devoured these. I’m a sucker for romance.
  • I’m also currently reading the Amazon Prime Reading series The Improbable Meet-cute. I’ve only just started on these, but I’m enjoying myself.

Gaming/Listening/Spotlight

This month we’re going to spotlight my friend mobilesuitgaming. If you click there on his username it’ll pull up his Twitch page. He’s a gamer (shock), but also a very cool person and one of the first friends I made after I moved back in 2024. Mobile plays a wide variety of games and while I’m not the biggest gamer myself, we’ve talked about a lot of games and he’s recommended a few to my husband and me that we’ve enjoyed. Mobile and my husband talked me into trying Monster Hunter World and while I’m not super far, I look forward to playing more.

Mobile tries to regularly stream on Twitch Mondays, Thursdays, Fridays, and Sundays. He is aware that I’m featuring him for this post and I asked him what he’d recommend playing. His first response “That’s a loaded question.” and it really is when you play like he does. March is Monster Hunter Month on his Discord server (click there for an invite to the server).

Mobile’s actual answer to what he recommends playing: Satisfactory, Warframe (he recently talked my husband into playing and they’ve played together with talks of playing together more), Monster Hunter, and Pokemon FireRed (Mobile just recently got this and while we were talking about this post he was showing me a few things he recently found out.

Overall, if you wanna watch someone who’s a genuinely cool person and has contagious excitement, check him out. One of the things he’d love to do one day with his streaming is put out merch. He does get asked about it and I’d love that for him (husband and I would totally have stickers on our car).

That’s all for now folks. Let me know what you think of this new formatting style. I think it’ll be nice and help keep me from rambling on too much. Peace for now.
