Sorry everyone, I know this post is incredibly late. I’ve missed… 2? 3? Scheduled posts. I’ve been meaning to share what’s going on in my life and what I’m up to in writing *coughnotmuchcough* but life has seemed to get away from me.
Full disclosure I’ve been barely treading water some to most days and on occasion I feel like I’m drowning. I’ve got a list of projects, I’m trying to plan for NaNoWriMo not only as a participant, but also as ML for my region (6th year running, holy crap), and my job still has us on 9 hour overtime with alternating Sundays. And that’s not including anything else happening.
September:
In September one of my uncles who lives out of state came back to visit for a whole week. And I got nothing done! I don’t care. I spent time with one of my favorite family members who I don’t get to see and barely get to talk with.
The best part… The day he was first back my car was officially fixed! Then a week or so later my check engine light came on. For those who have not been following this journey my engine just got replaced. The light has gone in and out a couple of times, but a cousin hooked his code reader to my car and come to find out old codes had not been fully cleared. He checked it again after the light came back on and it’s an O2 sensor. Nothing super huge.
October:
I wanted to add “so far” to the heading here, but at the time I’m writing this October only has 2 days left.
A buddy of mine got a puppy and I got to play with said puppy when I went over to dye my friend’s hair for his Halloween costume. He’s never dyed his hair before, but I haven’t had my hair its natural color for… Somewhere around a decade. Yes, my hair is healthy, no I don’t use a ton of products, yes I use Splat (among other things, but I like Splat as a dye brand), and no my hair has never been fried in all these years. I’m a general anomaly so why should my hair be any different?
I got to see the fiancé! We are working on a schedule where we see each other regularly again. For those confused, we do not currently live together. It is in the plans for the future, but it’s a process and there have been a LOT of variables within everything.
I celebrated another birthday.
Other/Misc:
I haven’t really been getting anything done writing wise. Or reading wise. It’s been really hard for me to sit down and physically pick up a book or even my Kindle and read something. Some friends and I are getting back into a book club we’d started and Friday will be the first re-meeting and I’m super excited for it, but also super nervous because I now realize I have a week to re-read this book. Thankfully it’s not a thick book. The audiobook is also only like 4 hours long. I could easily kill it in a shift at work. The issue with that is that I’ve primarily been training at work meaning I’m not listening to books or music or podcasts or anything other than my trainee(s). I’ve had a break for like 2 weeks so far aside from covering for another trainer for 2 days. I don’t know when we’ll be getting more people in our department and I don’t know if I’ll be training if we get someone new because we have multiple trainers in our department.
Later in the day that I’m writing this I plan on dying my hair for the first time in probably 2 months. I wanted to last night, but I spent longer hanging out with my sisters than I thought I would and while it was a fantastic time I was exhausted after because I’d been up for so long.
November and NaNoWriMo:
National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo) starts WEDNESDAY holy crap! I don’t know about any of YOU, but I am SO not ready! I’m doing a menagerie of a project this year and it’s going to be so weird feeling because I haven’t done a project like this before. The closest I came was a handful of years ago when I did 3 short stories for the month instead of one full length novel. Yes, this is an untraditional project, but that’s fine. You don’t HAVE to write a novel.
For those of you wanting to join or wanting to learn more please visit http://www.NaNoWriMo.org where you can learn about the history of NaNo, what it’s about, how to join or do it, and even join a region where you can meet and write with others in your region. My region has 5 events in-person this year scheduled so far. That’s already more than we’ve had for the last 2 years.
I will not take more of your time from here out today. If you made it this far thank you for reading. I’m going to get drafting another post because I wanted to make one post for a month focused on updates and the 2nd post of the month be a poem I wrote and maybe something about a book or other type of media. Poem for sure. Gotta give something to keep interest right 😉
Happy reading, happy writing. And for those participating in NaNoWriMo, good luck. If you want to add another writing buddy I’m Razor13.

I’ve missed you! I’ve been doing nothing that isn’t school-related since August. I love my job and my students, but I miss writing terribly. Hugs!!
